Who needs detox?

Adults with a prescription drug, alcohol, or heroin addiction are required to complete detox before continuing treatment at a rehab center. It’s important to cleanse the body of toxins found in many opiates and in alcohol. However, detox is only the first step in a successful treatment program.

The Detox Process

Detox typically lasts 7 to 10 days depending on the frequency of past drug abuse. During detox you will be closely monitored by a team of doctors and nurses. Doctors will be able to prescribe non-addictive medication to alleviate severe withdrawal symptoms. We only recommend medically supervised detox because mild withdrawal symptoms may become unmanageable very quickly. Severe complications may cause stroke, seizures, heart attack, and death.

After Detox

After the detox process is complete, clients in our adult detoxification program will begin rehab at the center. Our treatment combines:

  • Recreational activities
  • Group therapy
  • Team building exercises
  • Daily NA and/or AA meetings
  • Motivational guest speakers
  • One-on-one meetings between the client and an addiction counselor

Therapists will work with the clients to help them learn why they became addicted to drugs or alcohol. Family therapy is also a key component of a successful treatment program. Family therapists will work with the client and his/her family to reconcile any issues that happened before treatment. Drug and alcohol addiction wreaks havoc on the family unit. We have found that the family usually needs treatment too in order to learn how to properly support the addict during his or her recovery.

We also offer dual diagnosis treatment therapy. Dual diagnosis therapists will assess each client’s mental health and decide if the client needs mental health counseling in addition to drug or alcohol addiction treatment. Our therapists will create an individualized plan for all clients in our drug and alcohol treatment program.
